Howdy! My name is Ashley Johnston and I'm the loudest and proudest member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2014! I'm a Chemical Engineering major with plans to minor in Chemistry.
I was born in Houston, Texas and raised in the small town of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Since Freshman year of high school my family and I have lived in Katy, Texas, a suburb just West of Houston. I'm blessed to have been raised in a family that instilled in me a strong sense of faith, ethics, and hard work. My whole life, I've been actively involved in my church and other faith affiliated organizations. These involvements have had one common theme: going out of your way to help others. It has been so beneficial and has taught me the importance of connecting with others. Being able to converse effectively with people from different backgrounds is an asset that I know will help me in the future. It is such a humbling experience to go out and serve others, thus I make an effort to it as much as possible. While in High School I was involved in many organizations and extracurriculars. I was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Spartans Out Serving, Student Venture and the Seven Lakes High School soccer team. As Lady Spartan soccer player for three years, I was given the opportunity to lead younger players and fellow teammates. I also took several AP courses, specifically AP Chemistry, that spurred my interest in Chemical Engineering. I graduated from Seven Lakes High School and decided to further my education at one of the best Chemical Engineering Institutions in the Nation, Texas A&M University. Texas A&M University offers so many opportunities to get involved with that it's tough to not be involved in something you're interested in. I'm a member of the American Chemical Society and CRU. I attend Texas A&M United Methodist Church and go to a weekly Breakaway Ministries sermon. I am also seasonally on soccer, flag football, and volleyball intramural teams. |
