Effective Communication

Communication is the hub through which all things occur. Whether it be verbal, oral, or written, communication makes the world work. Effectively communicating requires an understanding of the audience, a solid knowledge of material, and the ability to listen actively. In the workplace, effective communication is key to teamwork and giving instruction.
I have been able to sharpen my communication skills through volunteer work and my time as a camp counselor. Specifically, I demonstrated communication by leading a two day seminar concerning accountability.
The Accountability Seminar
As a counselor at Rocky Mountain Getaway in Estes Park, CO, I was asked to create and lead a 2-day seminar about accountability. When I began to plan out the seminar there were a few questions I needed to ask:
I will be able to take the skills I gained through this experience, and apply them to my upcoming COOP and eventually my career as an engineer.
